Charlie and Parker are punk rockers by night and biohackers by day, surviving in a near-future London ravaged by climate collapse. They fund their lifestyle through their sketchy astronomy site, Zodiac Code, and Charlie's bio-bespoke augments, catering to criminals, punks, and eco-warriors. The city is split into three factions: the Greens, who fight to save the world; the Blues, who seek profit; and the Blacks, who see no hope left. When extremist Green activists hire them for a series of dangerous jobs, Charlie, who identifies as Black, wants to walk away. However, Parker believes they can make a difference and urges her to accept the jobs. As they delve deeper into a biological arms race against faceless corporations, amoral biohackers, and criminal cyberpunks, Charlie must choose what she believes in and whether there is still hope to be found. The novel explores themes of environmental collapse, moral ambiguity, and the struggle for hope in a dystopian world. Charlie's internal conflict and the high-stakes missions they undertake create a gripping narrative that blends cyberpunk elements with a deep exploration of human resilience and the fight for a better future.
